Sensing Learners
Read about sensing and intuitive types of distance learners, find how can they be helped during their distance course.
Sensing Learners
sensing_learnersReal world information is better accepted by sensors. But if a sensor encountered some abstract and theoretical material, he may have difficulty. Ask your tutor for specific examples of concepts and procedures; inquire how these concepts may be applied in real life. If the tutor can provide such examples, try to find some in your course text or other references or by brainstorming with friends or classmates. It will help you in future life where nobody would spend time on such trifles as explaining to you every detail.

How Can Intuitive Learners Help Themselves?

Many lectures and classes are quite good or intuitors. They are easy to adjust to the format of such studies.  However, if you are an intuitor and you happen to be in a class that deals primarily with memorization and rote substitution in formulas, you may get quite boring. Constantly ask your teachers   and instructors to relate the given information to the real world life situations, or try to find the connections yourself. Because of your repetition and details considering dislike, you may into trouble during the testing (as in checking your completed solutions). Take time to read the entire question before you start answering and be sure to check your results before passing them.

Visual and Verbal Learners
Visual learners are good in memorizing some visual details, for example pictures, photos, writing notes and other information of the same kind. Verbal learners remember better sounds, speech patterns and audio tapes recordings. But of course a single person will study better when both ways of remembrance are used.

In some colleges there is a lack of visual means of performance: students mainly write down lectures and that read them out of their synopses in textbooks and handouts. Unfortunately, most people are visual learners, which mean that most students do not have enough visual material to understand the concepts better. Good learners are capable of processing information presented either visually or verbally. They can find ways to offset the lack of some kind of pattern.

How Can Visual Learners Help Themselves?
If you are a verbal learner try to find the visual representation of the primary verbal study material. Photographs, diagrams, pictures will help you in it. Ask your teacher or tutor or some visual representation material, and search for video or computer interpretations of the course. Prepare a concept map by listing key points, enclosing tsensing_learnershem in boxes or circles, and drawing lines with arrows between concepts to show connections. In your synopsis mark some important details with the color marker or pen. It will help you to find the concept in your memory.

How Can Verbal Learners Help Themselves?
Try to explain the course material by your own words and write it down in the notebook.  Quite favorable will be working in groups: you gain understanding of material by hearing others interpretations and opinions.
