Course Initiation

Course Initiation

If you plan to take some distance course, read the following items.

1. Make your courses unusual in some way. The competition is quite good enough. Try some different graphics or a different format, something that will make them stand out.

2. This course is interactive; you can take it for granted. This can be as simple a putting polls or quizzes in the course, or asking questions the student can respond to by email.

3. The title should be informative and catch at the same time. "Get That Promotion" works better than "How to Get Promoted."

  4. Offer options. The courses are very flexible and convenient. Once the student has paid for the course, they can choose whether they want the whole thing at one, or delivered to their email once a week.

5. You need not waste your time and worry yourself about logistic side of the course.  Get a virtual assistant to keep the roster, mail the courses out, and deliver the completion certificates.

6. All the students should be granted a certificate in the end of the course.  If you aren't that talented, a virtual assistant can create one for you.

7. You must retro your writing style to git distance learning. Find a tutor. Take other distance courses and process what works and what doesn't. Do practical work asking your tutor for advice.

8. Get feedback from your students. They can give some good idea about making your course much better.

9. Use one course to promote other courses you offer. The course gives a plenty of different opportunities, so don’t waste time and take the course.

10. Once your courses are done, they'll be self-running and this is a great source of passive revenue. Don’t miss this item. You'll answer the responses yourself, which may sound overwhelming, but here's a fact--adult learning being what it is, many of the students don't make the responses, so it won't be as taxing as you think.

11. Use mail post to keep in touch with your students, it is also a kind of feedback.  You can send the URL each week with an e-note containing further information, notice of other products, and get to know your chats. This is a good way of finding and searching for clients.

12. Love it or don't do it. It shows. You will get a lot of personal experience while taking the course. Your enthusiasm for your subject and for your learners must be seen. Otherwise you will not attract more clients.

13. Fiddle with the pricing until you've built a faithful clientele base. You will have enough to compete with right there. Until they understand how exceptional and different your learning opportunities are, you may have to give away or deeply discount your courses.
