Marriage and Family. This course discovers the relationships of the family structure to social organization. Particular emphasis focused on the family historically, mate selection, marital adjustment, marital happiness, and divorce in a changing society. Social Justice and Social Change. Problems of deviance, crime, and victimization, inequalities in exposure to environmental risks, and inequities in power and participatory democracy within the context of social change are discussed during the course study, as well as assessment of control strategies and redress of injustices. The recommended minimum time for completion is 15 weeks. The course consists of 14 lessons and 1 final exam.
General Sociology – studies major concepts and theoretical approaches of sociology with emphasis on culture, socialization, social organization, and social stratification. The recommended minimum time for completion is 19 weeks.
Collective Behavior and Social Movements – here you can get to know collective phenomena leading to social change; how to response to disaster, popular crazes, and social protests and development, organization, and function of social movements. Emphasis is made on American cases. The recommended minimum time for completion is 20 weeks. The course consists of 2 lessons and 1 final exam.
Juvenile Delinquency. This course examines the historical and contemporary nature and social contexts of juvenile delinquency, as well as theoretical explanations of and social reactions to delinquency in American society. The recommended minimum time for completion is 18 weeks. The course consists of 17 lessons and 1 final exam.
Deviance and Social Control – investigate deviants, their lifestyles, social organization, and social control. The recommended minimum time for completion is 19 weeks. The course consists of 18 lessons and 1 final exam.
Social Psychology – conveys social psychological analysis of social behavior emphasizing its acquisition, its enactment, and its dynamic nature. This is a directed readings course. You must have a conference with, or correspond with the instructor before enrollment can be accepted. The recommended minimum time for completion is 20 weeks. The course consists of 7 lessons and 1 final exam.
Criminal Justice. The course concerns critical assessment of the criminal justice apparatus and it components; provides brief examination of the police, with most of the emphasis on the criminal courts and institutions and programs such as the prison, probation, and parole; analysis of their operation and impacts. The recommended minimum time for completion is 18 weeks. The course consists of 16 lessons, 1 midterm exam and 1 final exam.
Society and Law. Here you can learn how laws and legal processes are affected by social change, the social impact of legal sanctions, and relations between law and social justice. Writing-emphasis course. The recommended minimum time for completion is 18 weeks. The course consists of 17 lessons and 1 final exam.
Urban Ecology – learn about the relation of humans to their urban environment with emphasis on conservation and the use of appropriate technology. The recommended minimum time for completion is 16 weeks. The course consists of 15 lessons and 1 final exam.
