Introduction to Psychology – studies behavior, including its biological basis, development, motivation, learning, emotion, personality, language, and social behavior.
Abnormal Psychology – focuses first on the historical background of psychology and then on perspectives, theories, and research methods currently in use in this field. The remainder of the course deals with various mental and personality disorders, ranging from depression and schizophrenia to eating disorders and psychopathic behaviors. For each disorder, the etiology, treatment, and outcome are explored. The course concludes with a look at the legal and ethical issues surrounding psychological treatment for individuals, including voluntary and involuntary commitment.
Introduction to Social Psychology – examines basic psychological factors in social behavior. Topics include social perception, attitudes, prejudice, discrimination attraction, social influence, modeling, prosocial behavior, aggression, sexual behavior, social exchange, and group behavior. This course may also be taken for sociology credit.
Child Psychology – covers psychological development of the child to early adolescence. Learning principles include motor, language, cognition, emotion, and social development.
All these courses are on-line. They last for 1 year each.
