Psychology

Below is the list of courses of Independent Study Program. These courses enable individuals to achieve their educational goals without having to give up other aspects of their life. The program allows students to participate in a quality educational process and to choose where and when to study.

General Psychology. This course overviews the field of psychology including processes of learning, perception, motivation, emotion, heredity, personality, development, abnormal and psychotherapy.  

Understanding Human Diversity. Americans live in a complex and diverse society. This course discovers the nature, impact and strategies for dealing with diversity in personal and social contexts.

Introduction to Human Development. The course conveys a survey of human development through life span. Also it presents a multi-disciplinary approach to the study of both change and stability in physical, cognitive, social, and personality development. Review of relevant developmental theory and research.

Introduction to Sport Psychology – introduction to psychological theories and constructs affecting performance, coaching & development in sports and athletics.

Childhood and Adolescence. The course studies physical, social, cognitive, and emotional growth of the individual from childhood through adolescence. Course topics include intelligence, social development, self-development, moral development, family relations. Prerequisite: General Psychology.

Theories of Personality. Here you can study major theories of personality and the methods of personality investigation. Prerequisite: General Psychology.

Learning and Motivation. The course presents principles of learning and memory; as well as empirical findings and theoretical analyses of topics including conditioning, reinforcement and punishment. Research and application. Prerequisite: General Psychology or permission of instructor.

Memory and Cognition. The course studies theory and research on current topics in cognition, including attention, concept formation, imagery, memory, decision making, language acquisition, problem solving and text comprehension. Prerequisite: General Psychology.

Educational Psychology – discovers the contribution of psychology theory, research, and methods to our understanding of teaching and learning. Prerequisite: General Psychology or Introduction to Human Development.

Psychology of the Exceptional Individual. The course surveys of characteristics of those individuals considered significantly above or below the norm of the population. Here, the main emphasis is made on behavioral identification and modification of the home, school, and social environment. Prerequisite: General Psychology.

Abnormal Psychology. This course investigates etiology, diagnosis, and therapy of maladaptive or abnormal behaviors and mental functioning. Prerequisite: General Psychology.

The minimum time required to complete a course is 12 weeks.
Each course consists of 3 credit hours.

Tuition: $448.50 per 1 course.
