Philosophy, Seattle Central Community C.

The Correspondence Courses Program provides an opportunity to enroll in and complete courses from Seattle Central Community College from the home or work. Such courses enable individuals to earn credits towards an A.A. or A.A.S. degree.

The correspondence courses are open enrollment. School year consists of two quarters (180 days), during which students are supposed to complete course requirements. Financial Aid may not be used for Continuous correspondence courses and full-time tuition fees are not applicable. Loan deferment eligibility is not available for these courses.

Introduction to Philosophy - introduction to philosophical thought and issues, intellectual systems and writings of the great philosophers; the nature of philosophy, the meaning of knowledge, values, reality, and related subjects.

Introduction to Logic - examination of principles of Aristotelian and symbolic logic, deductive argument and proof; meaning of language and its place in the reasoning process. Application of logic to other fields.
General Psychology - introduction to the scientific study of human behavior, including learning and thinking, development, perception, motivation, emotion, personality and individual differences, social and abnormal behavior and research methods.

Survey of Sociology. This course study basic problems and concepts in human social interaction with emphasis on group aspects of human behavior. Covers culture, socialization, family, education, religion, urbanization, sex roles, social class, deviance, race, age, sexuality, demography and social change.
