It is possible to enroll at any time of the year. Self-paced courses are taught from a distance, no class attendance is required.
Medical-Surgical Nursing Review for Registered Nurses (self-paced correspondence course). It is a part of the Nursing Refresher Program, which also includes a clinical practicum. The program is designed to address a full range of common nursing problems. Medical-surgical concepts as well as psychosocial aspects of nursing care are presented. This course has 23 modules on topics in the field of nursing and offers 14 CEUs from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There are 2 enrollment options.
The first one - correspondence course and clinical practicum is for nurses in North Carolina who have not worked in over five years or who have had a lapsed or inactive license for five years or more and would like to return to nursing either full or part time. The second one - correspondence course only – is intended primarily for licensed nurses who have been practicing during the past five years and desire to update their knowledge of medical-surgical nursing.
