General Chemistry

The Center for Independent and Distance Learning offers Semester-based Independent Study College Courses. This courses are on a semester schedule, have firm due dates for assignments and tests, unlike other Independent Study courses.

General Chemistry. This course is first of a two semester sequence in general chemistry. Course topics covered are gas laws, and changes in state, basic measurement, thermochemistry, atomic theory, electron configuration, stoichiometry, periodicity and bonding molecular structure. This course contains online practice quizzes, with feedback, that the student can take as many times as he or she chooses. Also, there are self tests taken online with immediate grading. In terms of this course the online virtual labs and the online exams count toward the final grade. This course has 52 lessons, 9 labs, and 5 exams. It consists of 5 Credit Hours.

General Chemistry, Continued. In this course following topics are covered: nature of solutions, equilibrium, thermodynamics, acid and base properties, kinetics and electrochemistry. Web features include online self tests, practice quizzes, with feedback, virtual labs at LateNight Labs, and online exams. The labs and the exams are completed for a grade. The course consists of 5 Credit Hours.
