Ohio University offers Independent and Distance Learning Programs for those who seek obtaining degree in Aviation, among them:

Basic Aeronautics. This course ensures forty hours ground instruction covering aircraft construction, meteorology, FAA regulations, radio navigation, communications, and performance data to meet requirements of private pilot’s written exam. The course consists of 13 lessons and 2 exams.

Cross-Country Flight – it is a flight training course, which consists of cross-country flights and commercial maneuvers. Course prerequisite: private pilot's certificate. The course consists of 1 exam.

Advanced Cross-Countries. The course provides instruction for dual and solo cross-countries and review of commercial maneuvers and Foreign Trade Division (FTD). Aviation Department fees apply in addition to Course Credit by Examination (CCE) enrollment fee. The course consists of 1 exam.

Instrument Instructor Ground Instruction. The course provides 30 hours review of instrument course with emphasis on how to instruct instrument flying. Also, it covers requirements for instrument written exam. The course consists of 1 exam. Prerequisite: completion of the course Instrument System Regulations and Procedures and commercial certificate. (3 credit hours).

Flight Engineer. It is a comprehensive course covering aeronautical knowledge acquired for the flight engineer rating, including federal aviation regulations, aerodynamics, meteorology, aircraft manuals, and aircraft systems. The course consists of 1 exam. Prerequisite: commercial pilot’s certificate.

Private Pilot Flight Course. The course consists of a checkride given by a certificated flight instructor based on standards set forth by Private Pilot Practical Test Standards. Prerequisite: FAA written exam passed or perm; current medical certificate. The course consists of 1 exam.

Instrument System Regulations and Procedures. The course provides 40 hours ground instruction covering various navigation systems and procedures, aircraft radios and communications, instrument flying, and air traffic control procedures. It also includes functions of Air Traffic Control centers, approach control, towers, and flight service stations. FAA regulations included. The course meets all requirements for instrument pilot written exam. The course consists of 10 lessons and 2 exams. Course prerequisite: completion of the course Basic Aeronautics. This is a Web or Print-based course. Tuition: $612. 

ATP Ground Instruction. With this course you can get 40 hours advanced course placing major emphasis on specific requirements and duties of airline transport pilots in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations. The course provides aeronautical requirements for airline transport pilot written exam. The course consists of 1 exam.

Each course consists of 4 credit hours and costs $276 (unless mentioned).
