With the help of self-paced courses students can earn college credit by taking correspondence or online courses at their own pace. It is possible to enroll at any time of the year. Self-paced courses are taught from a distance, no class attendance is required.
Meeting and Convention Management (Self-paced Online and Correspondence). This course deals with the many issues impacting the management of large and small conventions, meetings, and events. Topics include meeting site selection, program planning and budgeting, legal issues and insurance problems, housing, food and beverage arrangements, transportation, exposition management, and audiovisual services. Credits for this course are granted by the Appalachian State University. The course consists of 3 credit hours, 10 submitted assignments.
Public Relations in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry (Self-paced Online). The course provides an overview of the basic principles of public relations as applied to various sectors of the hospitality industry (lodging, restaurants, attractions, and local and regional organizations that promote constituent members). This course introduces students to concepts and successful practices. Credits for these courses are granted by the Appalachian State University.
