Financial Management. Students learn how financing decisions affect the amount, timing, and risk of cash flows. Topics include risk and valuations, capital budgeting, long-term financing, the time value of money, financial structure, dividend policy, and internal financing.
Principles of Finance. An introduction to corporate finance, this course examines the financial objectives of firms; the context within which firms pursue their objectives; and the use of tools, techniques, and models of finance to make successful decisions. Topics include financial ratio analysis; forecasting, planning, and control; credit policy, cash management, and short-term financing; capital budgeting; dividend policy and variation; and lease financing, warrants, and convertible.
Investments and Personal Financial Planning. This course explains how to plan and manage a personal investment portfolio and how to define investment goals and devise strategies to achieve them. Students examine the instruments available for constructing a personal portfolio (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, options, futures, real estate and life insurance) and learn how to measure their risk and rewards. The course discusses the operations of U.S. security markets and industries. Specifically, it shows how to find the information necessary to analyze and monitor the condition and trends of capital markets and the economy in general. The Course Guide includes self-tests and an answer key. Each written assignment requires students to prepare responses to four to six essay questions.
