The Center for Independent and Distance Learning of the University oh Oklahoma offers semester-based Independent Study College Courses. This courses are on a semester schedule, have firm due dates for assignments and tests, unlike other Independent Study courses.

The System of Criminal Justice. This course analyses the sociological literature on the American system of criminal justice, viewed as a system of social control. In this course the emphasis is on the functional significance of the system in relation to the various interests represented in the law. The main attention is given to special problems in each of the major components of the system: law enforcement, the administration of justice and corrections.
