Ohio University offers Independent and Distance Learning Programs for those who seek obtaining degree in Economics, among them:

Principles of Microeconomics. The course examines basic theory and economic analysis of prices, markets, production, wages, interest, rent, and profits. It analyses how the capitalistic system determines what, how, and for whom to produce. Prerequisite: the successful completions of the course Basic Mathematics or higher placement. The course consists of 9 lessons and 3 exams.

Principles of Macroeconomics. The course studies basic theory of national income analysis; discovers causes of unemployment and inflation, as well as monetary and fiscal policies of the federal government. Prerequisite: the successful completions of the course Basic Mathematic, Principles of Microeconomic or higher placement. The course consists of 9 lessons and 3 exams.

Microeconomics. Here you can learn price system as an allocative mechanism. The course discovers price and production policies of individual firms and consumers under alternative market conditions and analysis of these policies on social efficiency of resource allocation. Enrolled students are expected to have an understanding of elementary algebra and geometry. Prerequisite: Principles of Microeconomic and Principles of Macroeconomics. The course consists of 10 lessons and 2 exams.

Managerial Economics. The course analyzes economic decision making in enterprises. Course topics include market Demand and Supply, production and cost analysis, various forms of competition, and issues of market structure and pricing. Prerequisite: the successful completions of the course Principles of Microeconomic, Introduction to Calculus or an equivalent course in calculus, and one course in statistics. The course consists of 10 lessons and 2 exams.

Labor Economics – analyses demand for labor, supply of labor, household production, compensating wage differentials, education and training, discrimination, unions, and unemployment. Prerequisite: the successful completions of the course Basic Mathematics. The course consists of 13 lessons and 2 exams.

International Trade. The course examines international trade patterns, theories of absolute and comparative advantage, classical and modern trade theory, tariffs, quotas, non-tariff barriers, preferential trading arrangements. Prerequisite: the successful completions of the course Basic Mathematics. The course consists of 10 lessons and 2 exams.

Money and Banking. Here you can learn role of money and banking system in determination of national income and output. In this course the emphasis is on monetary theory and policy. Prerequisite: Principles of Macroeconomics. The course consists of 10 lessons and 2 exams.

Each course consists of 4 credit hours.
Tuition: $564 per 1 course (or $ $612, if you study in Web course)
